“The quarantine was tough for every group on campus. For Pennchants, the hardships of the pandemic were heightened by complete board transitions while switching to a new format of ambitious video production and virtual learning. The Pennchants have always relied heavily on our ability to socialize, and with zoom fatigue that quickly began to falter in the fall leading into the spring. Liam was the glue that kept the group together. Handling group disagreements, logistical challenges, and a host of other unexpected issues, Liam stood as a leader for the group while he was dealing with personal hardship.
Beyond his actions this year, Liam has always been the mediator of the group, making sure that new members are always comfortable and welcomed and that the group environment is a healthy one. He is the reason I auditioned for the Pennchants and the reason I ran for the president of the group this past year. He is a leader by example and by character and should be recognized as such. When other members of the group have considered quitting due to the pandemic or other personal issues, he has helped them find solutions that allow them to stay in the group and get the best out of their college experience.
To the greater arts community, Liam helped tighten ties with the ACK community by hosting virtual mixers with other groups throughout the semester, prioritizing the need for younger members to meet members of other groups in order to form friends when it has been otherwise challenging to. “
